邁阿密馬林魚「怪力男」史坦頓6日用單場雙轟助陳偉殷奪下第5勝，7日他繼續對紐約大都會開炮，第2、3打席各掃出一發陽春彈，成為隊史首位連4打數開轟的球員，但馬林魚單場也就進帳這麼2分，終場以2比4落敗。
本季打擊有失水準的史坦頓，6日用2轟、5打點解低潮，而且昨役手感還持續發燙，首打席先選到保送上壘，4局上轟出一發470呎遠的全壘打，是大都會花旗球場(Citi Field)史上最遠一轟，第6局再補1支陽春炮，這也是他本季第19轟、生涯第200轟。
雖然史坦頓找回「怪力男」身手，隊友打線卻熄火，主場球隊也沒讓他專美於前，弗洛瑞斯4天內第2度演出單場雙響炮，同時在先發狄葛朗7局7K失2分好投的帶領下，大都會在系列賽以2勝1敗收場。
馬林魚日籍球星鈴木一朗昨役代打1打數沒有安打，大聯盟生涯安打數停在2990支。本季他雖然全壘打還沒開張，但打擊教練邦茲日前受訪時的一番言論也引發話題，他認為，鈴木一朗如果參加全壘打大賽一定能拿輕鬆冠軍，「隨便打都會贏。」
邦茲透露：「一朗在打擊練習時，每天打出的全壘打都是全隊最多。」連怪力男和本季累積17轟的歐蘇納都比不上，邦茲還曾打趣地要鈴木一朗「別再一直打全壘打了」，朗神反問「為什麼？」邦茲解釋：「因為你在練習時打都浪費了，我們要你在比賽中開轟。」
